Scholarly communication is truly global. While in the past, articles based upon scientific research were primarily from the United States and Europe, today countries such as China, South Korea, and Brazil-along with others that were minor contributors a decade or so ago-are becoming major players. Journals of regional importance have emerged that are worthy of consideration. In parallel, a certain level of global competition has also emerged and as a result it has become obvious that some questionable publishing activities such as self-citations and the acceptance of research papers that are shallow in content are now in play. This paper will take a look at the publication activity as noted in Thomson Reuters' Web of Science over the past decade from a set of ten selected countries.

Иодиды индия исследуются более 100 лет, причем фокус интересов сдвигается с исследований неорганических соединений, компонентов металлогалогенных ламп дневного света, к комплексным и (в текущем столетии) к элементоорганическим соединениям. Представлен обзор свойств индивидуальных иодидов, изученных фазовых диаграмм систем с участием 1п1з, Inb, Inl, структурных данных, комплексных соединений иодида индия. Отмечено наличие некоторых противоречий в опубликованных результатах. Предсказано существование ряда не описанных соединений. Моноиодид индия и его производные представляют интерес в качестве материалов радиационных детекторов и фотоники ИК-диапазона. Рассмотрены физико-химические проблемы использования иодидов индия в металлогалогенных лампах. Приведена сводка патентной литературы по этой тематике. Обсуждены химические реакции с участием иодидов индия, применяемых в органическом синтезе, и типы образующихся элементооргани-ческих соединений.

An overview of the Data Citation Index is provided. Thomson Reuters developed this resource in response to a stated desire among members of the research community for increased attribution of non-traditional scholarly output. Launched in October of 2012 on the Web of science research platform, its aims include linking published research articles to their underlying data sets and tracking the citation of the data, as well as encouraging bibliographic citation of data. Cross-disciplinary search capabilities in the Index enable new possibilities for data discovery and synthesis. Data repositories are evaluated with respect to various selection criteria, with particular attention to their relevance to scientific and scholarly research. Index content reflects current data deposition practices. As data citation standards and practices continue to move toward widespread formalization and adoption, the initiative seeks to address issues of data citation, reuse, and author credit in a developing climate.

A V notch propagating along its bisector in two dimensional isotropic material is studied. Complex eigen expansion method is used to obtain eigenvalues and eigen functions. The singularity of the V notch is analyzed for different constant propagating speeds, and notch angles, and material constants; Poisson's ratio, Young's modulus and density. When the V notch is a crack, the order of the stress singularity is -0.5 and is not influenced by the propagating speed.
